Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five and enrolled in an academy called the Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. When she was 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes in acting, singing and dance. From the age of 10 she was involved as the lead in a number of Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie version from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time in 1999. Emma was found by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in the year 2001. The movie set records in terms of its opening and weekend ticket sales, and it was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Emma received five awards in recognition of her work in the movie.
